Lent

 It’s time to let go.

Of the hurt. And the hope. That are anchored in anything less.

 It’s time to release. To relax. To retreat. To be still and know, and to rest.

A season for everything, all in good time, so today, and for now, choose to wait.

It will come. It will pass. This abstinent season of preparing what’s Good for what’s Great

So mind your time well, steward your talents, prepare for the Master’s return

Trim your wick, fill your lamp, so when the time comes there’s plenty of oil to burn.

The altar awaits. The mountain. The cross. Demanding; unbearable price.

Although it’s been paid, you are yet free to choose, will your desperate efforts suffice?

Or perhaps, is it time, to accept that what’s done-  is done, and forever will be?

Perhaps it is time for opening hearts, and hands and eyes to yet see;

That relenting, abstaining, and letting it go, offering, giving it up

Is, and has always been the best way of refilling and flooding your cup.

It’s time to let go.

A season without. Open-handed: as if you believe;

In the promise, the word and the truth that: it is more blessed to give than receive.
