‘It’

‘Get over it’, the worst advice
I think I’ve ever heard.
Avoiding it, sure sounds nice
But’s truly quite absurd.

I’ll challenge you, instead to take it in, your current trial
For life’s made of them and to say otherwise, is, simply put; ‘denial’.

Once I read an old, old book that told me to rejoice
When faced with various trials, and that left me with a choice

To heed the wisdom written there and be grateful for my lot
Or ‘get over it’, and let the experience summarize to naught

To believe that nothing can be learned from any circumstance,
To believe that some things happen based on luck and random chance,

I’m sorry, if this bothers you but, it simply isn’t true,
There’s design and purpose hidden here, woven through and through.

I’m not saying over-analyze and stop what else you’re doing,
But step by step, accept that life’s part dying, part renewing

‘It’ is life, the challenges that happen every day,
‘It’ hits the fan so-to-speak, in so many different ways

So rather than avoiding ‘it’, by going over or around
Take ‘it’ with you while you carry on, and continue to gain ground

Towards the next, whatever it is, that’ll change your point of view
(Which, by the way, is ok to do, yes… I’m talking to you)

Humility, and gratitude go further than you think
When you’re stuck in darkness, rain or mud, afraid that you might sink

Go through ‘it’, not around or over, let ‘it’ sanctify
Watching over you is, He, who on the sparrow, keeps His eye

He will not let you slip or fall, or face what you can’t bear
Grace, amazing, paid the price, it’s free, no matter where

You find yourself, so face ‘it’, why avoid ‘it’ at it’s worst?
When you know the Name of the one who went through ‘it’ for you first.
