Communion

What would Jesus do? And we hypothesize away:
Deciding exactly how He’d act, and exactly what He’d say

There’s no way He’d join your side if He was here among us now
He’d be over here with us, you see there’s things He won’t allow

You’re clearly out of line for seeing things the way you do,
Come join the side of history, forget everything you knew

There are many ways to think, but yours is clearly wrong
So believe in us, our cause, join this march and sing this song

Speak your mind of course, we welcome, thoughts and knowledge flowing
we won’t use force, unless, you’ve got a different way of knowing

Justice is our cause, all we want is to be heard
and, obviously, to you these thoughts never have occurred

So listen, to our sermon-chant, listen and obey
We will teach how to think, and act and what clearly not to say

Evil has been done, so there must be a reason
Give me someone, on whom to pin this atrocious act of treason

Give me understanding, a compensate of blood
We must balance out these scales, it’s for the greater good

I can’t humanize my enemy, that would mean that we’re the same
And I could never act like that so I need someone else to blame

Someone to bear the inconceivable burden of transgression
That has been committed against my beliefs and my confession

Wait, who's this now? trying to bridge the gap and reconcile us all
He's breaking down my truth, and dismantling my wall!

So release the murderer, set him free, at least he’s on our side
The other guy – make him pay, let’s have Him crucified.
